Malawi: Academic and Research Partnership
The UCLA Program in Global Health has initiated relationships with academic institutions in Malawi for the purpose of conducting clinical, behavioral, and basic science research, as well as a training opportunity for residents and fellows. This will involve establishing a clinical and research laboratory at the Partners in Hope Medical Clinic in Lilongwe, beginning collection and storage of samples for further study, implementing pilot research for a prevention-for-positives study, and establishing an MOU and twinning program with Chancellor College. Long-term, extramural funding from the NIH, foundations, private donors, and USAID is being sought to sustain and expand the project.
